May 2017 Empties

If you’re unfamiliar with my monthly empties posts, I’ve been making an effort to diminish my huge pile of samples and products (see blog post here: Project: Finish Samples). Just as a disclaimer though, I don’t use more product in an effort to just get rid of it! I still only use the same amount (e.g. 1 pump for serum) and I don’t drown my skin in moisturizer. I just make a more conscious effort to use the same things daily rather than dabbling in many products at once. You can check out my previous empties posts here and here… but this month’s empties are different!

May 2017 Empties – Skincare

Glamglow Supermud Treatment Sephora skincare, Sacred Wildwood Rose Hydrasol Rowan Homespun skincare review, First Aid Beauty Hydrating Serum Sephora skincare

This month’s skincare items are plentiful! Longtime readers know that I’m obsessed with sprays. I love misting my face throughout the day, during my skincare routine, before bed… I will find an excuse to mist. Because of my misting obsession, I’ve tried many.

Glamglow Supermud Clearing Treatment – I talked about this product before in a favourites post (here), and after using the deluxe sized sample, I went to purchase a small tub of it at Sephora. I find that it works really well on pimples that I want to get rid of faster. Repurchase? Yes. I really like this product and found that this worked really well on my pimples!

Nature Republic Cell Boosting Essential Skin – This product was given to me from a friend who received it as a sample after purchasing. I used this as a toner and applied after washing my face. Instead of the traditional use of putting it on a cotton pad, I just poured a bit on my had and patted into the skin. I found that this was a nice toner if I needed some moisture, but it’s mainly for light exfoliation and I didn’t use this product enough to see results. Repurchase? Probably not… this product is more of an exfoliating toner and I already have a great exfoliator.

Wildwood Celestine Rose Hydrasol – This hydrasol is probably hands down, my favourite rose scented mist. It was very natural rose scented (did not change scent over time) and did not have any added junky ingredients (e.g. colouring, preservatives.. etc). Repurchase? 100% YES! I love stopping by at ROWAN and would definitely pick up more of this!

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Hydrating Serum – Being a self-proclaimed skincare junkie, I have all of the serums, moisturizers and oils you can imagine. First Aid Beauty products are fairly popular at Sephora because the packaging states that it’s safe for sensitive skin. This Ultra Repair Hydrating Serum is a no frills serum and mainly focuses on hydrating the skin and doesn’t have any additional aspects. Repurchase? Nah. I love my multi-purpose products! This hydrating serum would be great for someone starting out with skincare or have sensitive skin, but not my cup of tea.

May 2017 Empties – Haircare

Maui Moisture Bamboo Fibers drugstore haircare, Carina Organics Peppermint Shampoo natural beauty

It’s always difficult for me to find haircare products that both make my hair look less flat (I have fine hair) and also makes it look shiny and healthy. I only have a few products that I finished this month, so let’s dive in!

Maui Moisture Bamboo Fibers drugstore haircare, Carina Organics Peppermint Shampoo natural beauty

Carina Organics Peppermint Shampoo & Body Wash – This product has been a staple in my routine. I have a previous post on Carina here, and have been using their products ever since. I don’t usually talk about my personal life, but I have scalp psoriasis and using natural haircare products help with flareups. The peppermint also helps with soothing the itchiness as it’s a nice tingle. Repurchase? Definitely! I’ve repurchased this a few times now, and definitely would keep this as a staple in my routine.

Maui Moisture Bamboo Fibers Shampoo* – I wrote a full review on this product here if you’re interested, but to put it short… I like this! This worked really well on my hair and left it feeling refreshed. I didn’t notice a ton of volume after using this shampoo, but it definitely did help with a bit of lift! Repurchase? I think so. This shampoo was really nice and I would definitely love to use again in the future!
