Moor Spa Skincare Review

Moor Spa products are 100% naturally derived and free of petroleum derivatives, synthetic chemicals and potentially toxic ingredients. Moor Spa products also do not contain any artificial preservatives or test on animals. I’ve used green beauty products before (post on why: here) and it’s nice to see a natural alternative for the spa. Over the past few years, I’ve noticed more green beauty brands and existing brands changing formulations to be more natural-friendly. Since it’s a new season, I needed a new skincare routine and I was able to try out a few products to put together a Moor Spa Skincare Review.

Each season, I like to switch up my skincare routine as my skin is very reactive to the weather. If it gets slightly warmer, my skin becomes more oily. If it gets close to 0°C or colder, my skin can sometimes be too dry and tight. As the season changes from winter weather to warmer and more humid spring, I find that my skin gets slightly more oily rather than combination so I turned to Moor Spa to try out some products aimed for combination/oily skin. Each Moor Spa product contains Austrian Deep Moor which is a nutrient-rich complex derived from hundreds of herbs, plants and flowers.

Moor Spa Cleansing Gel

Just the look of having this cleansing gel beside my sink makes me feel cleansed. Sounds crazy, but the packaging is so sleek and beautiful! Some products look bulky or out of place, but the neutral (and luxe!) look of the Moor Spa products fit perfectly in my bathroom. The Moor Spa Cleansing Gel is low-sudsing and gentle with tea tree, lavender, lemongrass and ylang-ylang. This sulfate-free cleanser has an herbal scent which I don’t mind and actually have come to enjoy as a daily ritual. Although this cleanser is great at removing makeup, I subscribe to the double cleansing method and use a cleansing oil to remove my makeup first. After removing makeup, this is my regular daily cleanser and I’ve been testing it out for about a month now. I didn’t experience any breakouts or “purging” which I’ve heard some people get from switching from conventional beauty to green beauty products.

Pro Tip: In addition to the known anti-microbial effects of tea tree, ylang-ylang has anti-inflammatory properties & has a relaxing effect. (Source)

Moor Spa Facial Polish

This 100% natural exfoliant is gentle, gel based and suitable for all skin types. The Moor Spa Facial Polish is quite gentle because of the fine jojoba beads suspended in gel. I personally usually go for chemical exfoliants because I’m terrible with scrubs and generally use them too harshly. Formulated with calendula extract, lavender and chamomile to help smooth and soften skin… I find that my skin is much smoother after use and makeup application is as well. This gel is also pleasantly scented like lavender and doesn’t have a harsh chemical scent.

Moor Spa Clarifying Cream

Depending on the time of year, I find comfort in layering different facial oils, serums and creams. When it comes to spring and summer, my skin usually needs a bit of a lighter moisturizer, but still needs moisture. The Moor Spa Clarifying Cream is a light cream-gel that includes sweet potato extract, cucumber, and other herbal ingredients. After use, my skin feels very soft and immediately hydrated probably due to the Olive Fruit Oil and Shea Butter ingredients. When my skin is in need of more moisture however (sometimes at night, I find my skin more dry), I like to layer a night mask.

Pro Tip: Sweet potato extract contains anti-oxidants (source) which may help with keeping your skin looking youthful (source).

The great thing about using natural products is the peace of mind that you’re putting good things on your body and using products that don’t harm the environment. What’s your favourite natural product? I’d love to hear about it!
