Dr. Jart+ Tarot of Masks Holiday Gift Set

I love sheet masks! I try to incorporate one at least once a week because my skin just drinks it up now that it's getting colder. Only recently have I been incorporating more K-Beauty into my skincare routine, branching out with more brands and products. When I first saw the gift set for sale, I knew I had to have it! Tarot of Masks features six different cotton or microfiber sheet masks and one rubberized mask.

Skincare Ingredient: Retinol | What is Retinol? | Do I need to use Retinol?

With countless brands and products on the market claiming to turn back the clock on your skin, anti-ageing products can be difficult to navigate. Retinol is a key skincare ingredient in many anti-ageing skincare products and has become very common. Although prevention is key when it comes to youthful skin, using products specifically for ageing skin can help.

June 2017 Empties

This month, I have a ton more products to let you guys know about! For this month's June 2017 Empties post, I've been adding more products that I've finished (not just skincare or makeup based!). This summer, I've been working on more skincare since it's so important! Essentially the canvas, your face is fairly important when it comes to creating a great makeup look. As a surprise this month, my fiancé thought to join me with his empties as well! This June 2017 empties post is my first his and hers empties... Watch out, cause this post is long!

Avène YsthéAL Intense

When it comes to skincare, I make sure I do my research to ensure it works for my skin! I grew up having terrible acne and have always researched for hours on end trying to figure out ways to get rid of it. So from an early age, I was interested in perfecting skin. A lot of the products that I've found that actually help me the most are acid based. From AHA's to BHA's, time after time, I noticed my skin becoming more clear peel after peel. So when I heard of a product having the same efficacy as 3 peels, you bet I wanted to try it! If I could reduce the number of products in my current routine, but still get the same results... that would be great! More time in my day (to do more research!).

April 2017 Empties

Each month, I strive to finish products that are almost used up because of Project: Finish Samples. The amount of sample sized or travel sized products I own is quite overwhelming. My reasoning? I keep thinking I need to save them for upcoming trips or overnighters, but really... who am I kidding?! Just how many trips am I taking on a monthly basis? I noticed my samples were piling up and so, in an effort to diminish them, I'm using them up! This month in my April 2017 empties, I really concentrated on finishing up hair care and skin care products. You can also see my last monthly empties post (here), where I cover mascara & body care. Moor Spa Skincare Review

Moor Spa products are 100% naturally derived and free of petroleum derivatives, synthetic chemicals and potentially toxic ingredients. Moor Spa products also do not contain any artificial preservatives or test on animals. I've used green beauty products before (post on why: here) and it's nice to see a natural alternative for the spa. Over the past few years, I've noticed more green beauty brands and existing brands changing formulations to be more natural-friendly. Since it's a new season, I needed a new skincare routine and I was able to try out a few products to put together a Moor Spa Skincare Review.

How Cleansing Oils Work

Cleansing oils are fairly popular in the beauty scene, particularly in Asia. They're mostly used to remove makeup, but wash off cleanly with water. Read: cleanly. There's (generally) no greasy feeling, no oily film... just clean skin! The double cleansing method is my favourite way to remove makeup because I find that it generally removes most (if not all!) of my makeup in the first cleanse, and it involves a cleansing oil. I never really thought about how cleansing oils work until Erik (my fiancé) asked me how the oil helps to remove makeup. This made me think about it and want to do some research!

Shiseido IBUKI Smart Filtering Smoother Serum

I love trying out new products and I'm most excited when they turn out to be revolutionary products that change my skincare routine. I was able to discover the Shiseido IBUKI Smart Filtering Smoother Serum courtesy of Influenster. The claim for the Smart Filtering Smoother is that it helps to improve shine and visible pores instantly. The Smart Filtering Smoother acts as a serum, but has a finishing touch that helps to create photo-ready skin.

Misconceptions About Oils ft. Bio-Oil Review

Growing up, I had extremely oily skin. This led to acne and feeling insecure about my skin (my story here!). I went through countless beauty products, different prescriptions and overall lifestyle changes. But barely anything changed. When I was younger, one of my mom's friends had recommended a facial oil and I was very skeptical that it would help my troubled skin. When oily or acneic skinned people hear about applying oils to the skin, they cringe and run away in fear. I did too, but trust me when I say there are definitely misconceptions about oils. In fact, oils can actually help to hydrate, protect, purify and help balance the skin. They also contain concentrated ingredients so a little goes a long way! (P.S. The facial oil actually helped my skin!)
